The Queensland Law Society and the Real Estate Institute of Queensland have prepared new editions of the two standard residential contracts, updating the definition of “Compliant Smoke Alarm” as a result of recent legislative changes.
The definition of “Compliant Smoke Alarm” in the standard Contract for Houses and Residential Land (now 13th edition) and standard Contract for Residential Lots in a Community Titles Scheme (now 9th edition) has been updated as a result of changes to the Fire and Emergency Services Act 1990, introduced by the Fire and Emergency Services (Domestic Smoke Alarms) Amendment Act 2016.
